Three people were found dead Thursday afternoon inside a home in West Springfield, Virginia, where a 2-year-old boy was found unharmed.
Fairfax County police reported via Twitter that a firearm was recovered at the residence located in the 8500 block of Wild Spruce Drive.
A 911 caller, identified as a house cleaner, said she heard gunshots around 1:45 p.m. Police did not say whether the person was inside or outside the home when she heard the shots.
Nor have they reported the identity of the victims.
Neighbors who gathered outside, sharing hugs, noted that a couple and three children live in the house. They said the family moved a little over a year ago.
The investigation is still ongoing, according to authorities.
