It is expected that Tiger Woods (USA) will be seen in the Ryder Cup, a European golf competition between the United States and Europe, to be held in Italy in September next year.
At an official press conference for both Ryder Cup leaders at Marco Simone Country Club in Rome, Italy, the host of next year’s Ryder Cup, Ryder Cup USA team leader Jack Johnson hinted that Woods could join.
“I can’t say for sure here, and I don’t know if he’ll be here next year,” Johnson said.
Johnson’s words open up the possibility that Woods could join as vice-president, but could also play as a player.
“I get in touch with Woods often,” Johnson said. “He likes the Ryder Cup. He welcomes him with open arms. He has great strategy and gives the players a fighting spirit.”
Woods, who is recovering, is likely to play for the Ryder Cup in September next year.
Woods has expressed his hopes and expectations for a Ryder Cup appearance from time to time.
