Innsbruck (OTS) – The opposition accuses the state government of black and red of standing still after six months. She has enough problems herself to bring her strengths to the ground. It is obvious that the coalition is not growing wings in terms of content.

Anton Mattle (VP) and Georg Dornauer (SP) wanted to outsmart the opposition. Last week, the governor and his deputy gave a cheap account of their first half-year in government, even before the FPÖ and Co. were able to present their own accounts to the duo in the state parliament. The exchange of political change once again revealed the weaknesses and construction sites – here and there.
The VP is presenting its power as ever. She continues to rule in Tyrol. The resounding slap in the face on election night 2022 was followed only for a short time by a delicate touch of black humility. In day-to-day work, the motto “continue as before” has long since gained the upper hand. Also because the SP does not want to oppose anything. Dornauer is currently not letting anything come to the coalition. He supports controversial appointments, such as recently at Neuer Heimat and the State Administrative Court. For this, the SP country manager can let off steam on the staging meadow called representation with almost no opponents. As far as (media) self-marketing is concerned, Dornauer already governs the country with an absolute majority. Meanwhile, Mattle has his hands full within the party. The Zillertal VP enfant-terrible Franz Hörl, for example, can accuse the country house of lying in the hydrogen dispute with impunity. The economic coordinator also harms Mattle. Consistent.
In terms of content, however, VP/SP does not grow wings. Home cooking is offered for long stretches. And partly clumsy show. For the examination of a building land tax, you need a request from your own majority in the state parliament. Other campaign promises, such as the legal entitlement to childcare, are stuck in the political “30s” zone through working groups and needs assessments. The list goes on.
The opposition’s criticism of all this is justified. But she, too, is fighting against her own idling. The flooding of the country house with inquiries to all members of the government as a protest against increasing non-answers reveals one’s own helplessness more than the power to oppose VP/SP with a weighty counterpart. The opposition is weakened. The Greens have not yet recovered from the power struggle for the party leadership, the NEOS are suffering from a front man who is tired of politics. The foam at the mouth of the FP results from the ongoing anger at not having been rewarded with government offices as the new number two like their colleagues in Lower Austria. And List Fritz has to realize that it won’t be able to do it alone in the country either.
Government vs. Opposition. This could be a fruitful game. It’s currently a tragedy.
