Raleigh.- Starting a new business can seem complicated, and the place where you plan to take this big step is very important.

In North Carolina, opportunities for new businesses are especially present in metropolitan areas, but also in cities with constant growth.

Proof of this is the inclusion of Durham and Charlotte in the top 10 positions in a study on the Best Large Cities to Start a Business. Raleigh and Winston-Salem were also included at the top of the count.

The reference list was made by the company WalletHub, a company dedicated to personal finance and the empowerment of the consumer of financial services.

WalletHub conducted an analysis of the opportunities that cities in the United States offer to people who want to start a small business.

To do this, the company first distinguishes between small cities and large cities across the country by analyzing different crucial aspects of starting a business.

The publication of the WalletHub list coincides with National Small Business Week in the United States, organized by the US Small Business Administration (SBA) from April 30 to May 6.

In this event, those interested in starting a business for the first time can learn more than is necessary from the voice of experts in different areas in a virtual meeting.

Durham and Charlotte, among the best

In this year’s list of the Big Cities Offering the Best Opportunities for New Entrepreneurs, WalletHub included two from North Carolina in its Top 10.

Out of a total of 100 large US cities, the company used 19 key metrics to compare business opportunities in each.

Thus, the list includes the following cities in its first 10 best places:

  1. Orlando, Florida.
  2. Jacksonville, Florida.
  3. Miami, Florida.
  4. Tampa, Florida.
  5. Durham, North Carolina.
  6. Boise, Idaho.
  7. Atlanta, Georgia.
  8. Charlotte, North Carolina.
  9. Fort Worth, Texas.
  10. Austin, Texas.

The inclusion of the two North Carolina cities in the Top 10, in addition to Raleigh in position 11 and Winston-Salem in position 13, translates into leadership and openness for new businesses.

For example, Durham ranks number 5 among cities that offer the greatest access to resources for starting a business. Meanwhile, Charlotte ranks 11th on the business environment, which includes the growth trend and survival for at least 5 years.

The complete list of the best large cities to start a business can be found on the WalletHub site, which includes details of the comparative study.
