Bob Robichaud says the timing of the hurricane’s turn north could impact the size of the waves and the intensity of the rain and wind that falls along the East Coast.
The hurricane could begin its journey north by Tuesday or Wednesday.
The intensity of the hurricane in the Atlantic provinces will also depend on an area of high pressure found above the Great Lakes. If this system moves significantly eastward, it could help push the hurricane further from the Canadian coast.
Bob Robichaud adds that the temperature of the ocean could also have an impact on the magnitude of the storm. If it is high, the hurricane could gain strength as it moves north. On the contrary, colder water could reduce its intensity.
