The unfortunate child had been stabbed.
Police were called to the New Square shopping center at around 9.15pm BST on Sunday.
The child’s death was instantaneous, West Midlands Police said, confirming that an investigation into the killing was ongoing.

A spokesman for the authorities said the boy’s family had been informed and inquiries were at an early stage.
The detective leading the investigation from the homicide squad said: “It is a tragedy that yet another young life has been lost as a result of a criminal act.
“Our thoughts are with the victim’s family and friends.”
He also stressed that patrols in the area will be increased and officers will find the perpetrator.
