CHICAGO, Illinois- The body of the young woman was identified as 20-year-old Amy Kelts. Rescue teams were looking for a missing woman in the waters of Lake Michigan.
According to authorities, the woman was swimming in Lake Michigan and was later reported missing in the waters.
A rescue operation was activated and after the search for the body of the young woman who was found near Foster beach north of the city.
On Thursday, divers from the Chicago Police Marine Unit removed the body shortly before 10 a.m.
The medical examiner’s office identified the person as Amy Kelts, 20, of Aurora.
Lake Michigan body search
A team of divers searched the area not far from Foster Beach for more than 40 minutes until a body was recovered and brought out in a black body bag at the end of the pier.
Police responded Wednesday night to a call from the beach around 8:30 pm for a woman who was swimming in the lake and reportedly missing.
According to witnesses, a young woman was struggling to swim to shore before she sank.
Authorities are calling this incident a tragic accident.

“Amy was swept away by the currents of Lake Michigan. Rescue teams and divers searched for her that night and found her the morning after June 22,” relatives say on the GoFundMe page.
They remember Amy as an amazing daughter, sister and friend.
They hope with this fundraiser to emotionally support their mother and siblings. Since in 2018, according to the collection page, his father would have died.

Eduardo Uvaldo, 69 years old Eduardo Uvaldo became the seventh victim to lose his life following the Highland Park shooting. The man, also of Mexican origin, spent several days in an Evanston hospital, where he was being treated for injuries that eventually cost him his life.

Jackie Sundheim, 63. One of the first confirmed victims after the shooting was Jackie Sundheim, a teacher and beloved member of the Jewish community. It was precisely the North Shore Congregation Israel that confirmed the identity of the woman, who was working in the Glencoe, Illinois synagogue.

“There are not enough words to express the depth of our grief over Jacki’s death and our solidarity with her family and loved ones,” a synagogue statement said. Sundheim was fired on July 8 with a service at the same Glencoe synagogue.

Steven Strauss, 88. A father of two, grandfather of four and an active financial adviser, Steven Strauss was one of the victims of the Highland Park shooting. The Jewish community honored the memory of Strauss after news of his death during the July 4th parade became known.

“He was an honorable man who worked all his life and took care of his family and gave everyone the best he had,” his wife said, “he was kind and gentle and had great intelligence, humor and wit.” Strauss was fired with a mass on July 8, four days after the tragedy. Her husband remembered that Katherine was an avid bird watcher, so they would seek to cremate her and spread her ashes in an area of Montrose Beach, where there is a bird sanctuary.
