It was a terrible accident that occurred this Saturday followingnoon on our roads. Shortly following 3 p.m., on the Koning Astridlaan (N9) in Maldegem (East Flanders), a violent collision occurred between a car and a parked truck.

According to information from our colleagues at Latest newsthe driver of the car would have fallen asleep at the wheel which would have led to the collision with the heavy goods vehicle with terrible consequences since the child (the driver’s son) who was in the back of the first vehicle cited was seriously injured in shock.
Aged three, he was immediately taken to Ghent University Hospital. The driver was only slightly injured and was also taken to hospital.
