A 39-year-old Frenchwoman lost her life in a serious car accident on the E40 during the night from Wednesday to Thursday. The accident occurred near Jabbeke, confirmed the West Flanders prosecutor’s office. Her companion and their two children were injured.
The accident happened around 2:20 a.m. The vehicle, which was traveling towards the coast, collided with a truck parked in an emergency location along the road. The driver of the car, a 42-year-old Frenchman, probably dozed off at the wheel. The latter was only slightly injured but his companion died at the scene of the accident.
In the back, the couple’s two daughters were injured. One, aged 12, suffered serious injuries and was taken to hospital, but the other was only slightly injured. The prosecution decided not to appoint a traffic expert on the scene.
