Three young people died in a traffic accident between three vehicles on the night of August 2, according to police reports in Florida.
The father of one of the 16-year-olds said the accident occurred while they were finishing a double dateaccording to WFLA.
The Lakeland police identified the victims of the accident as a 16-year-old girl, a boy of the same age, and a 19-year-old boy. After dropping off the fourth person from the double date, the three were driving a Nissan Versa northbound on a freeway, apparently at high speed, police said. Their car struck a Lincoln pickup truck that was turning into a plaza. The van then collided with a Toyota Corolla that was also turning to leave the plaza.

The 16-year-old girl who was driving was taken to hospital, where she died of her injuries, according to police. The other two passengers in the car were pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.
Lakeland Police spokeswoman Stephanie Kerr said the three youths they had to be removed from the car with the use of toolsaccording to WTSP.
“So any damage seen in the photographs is possibly damage caused by the removal of the vehicle, as well as the impact,” Kerr told WTSP.
The 16-year-old’s family identified him as Gage Rogerson, who was a sophomore at Tenoroc High School in Polk County.
“It was an accident, he took three beautiful souls who loved everyonetheir father Gregory Rogerson told FOX 13. “He took their future away from them.”
Police said the drivers of the other two cars suffered minor injuries and were not taken to hospital. The accident occurred around 10:30 p.m. on Wednesday, August 2.
A person who identified themselves as the 16-year-old’s cousin posted about her loss on Facebook.
“Our family is devastated and we will miss her every day“, wrote. “All these guys were very young and had their whole lives ahead of them. It saddens me and my condolences go out to the other families who also lost their children.”
The accident remains under investigation, according to police.
