A Belgian died during a walk in Guía de Isora, on the island of Tenerife, reports several Spanish media. According to the first returns, she would have fainted because of the suffocating heat on the spot.
A helicopter was dispatched to rush the fiftieth anniversary to the hospital. Despite several attempts to revive her, the victim died shortly thereafter.
On the same day, a Briton also succumbed to high heat on the island of Fuerteventura, which is also part of the Spanish archipelago.
