Circumstances are hazy

At present, the exact circumstances of this terrible accident remain unclear. We only know that between the moment when Arcange dived under water without rising to the surface and the intervention of the rescue services, approximately 30 minutes passed.

On Wednesday, Alain Lambert, the former commander of the Basse-Meuse police zone, present until the end of the month, indicated in our pages: “According to the first elements and testimonies collected on the spot, a group of 4-5 15-year-olds swam in the water and slowly came up. One of them dived back but did not come back to the surface. The others explained that they saw him disappear into the water, and then gave the alert. Did he have any difficulty swimming? Was there a kind of whirlwind? It will obviously be necessary to clarify these circumstances during the investigation and through the various testimonies”.

The hearings should shed light on what really happened on Wednesday rue du Tiège. However, they will not be implemented immediately. Being young people aged around fifteen, they are all shocked and saddened by the loss of their friend. Many precautions must therefore be taken and psychological support provided.

Note that these young people came from a housing estate located at Heure-le-Romain.
