This Sunday, at 6 a.m., Henri (25 years old), a young man living in La Bruyère, was walking his dog on rue Saint-Gilles, in Liège. He was on the sidewalk when a driver, born in 1994, hit him.
The young man was thrown 14 meters from the impact and died instantly. The driver fled and took refuge with his brother. The latter brought him back to better feelings and the suspect therefore returned there.
Given the impacts noted on his vehicle, the violence of the impact is beyond doubt. The windshield was shattered and dents were noted on the hood of the accident vehicle. It seems that the speed was excessive; the expert, dispatched by the Liège public prosecutor’s office, said that he was traveling in excess of 50 km/h.
Heard, the man admitted to drinking two Redbull vodkas. His alcohol level was 0.23 grams instead of the authorized 0.22. The state of alcoholic impregnation is therefore light.
History
Given the hit-and-run, drunk driving, and the driver’s criminal record, the latter was presented to an investigating judge who decided to place him under arrest warrant.
He is in fact known to the courts for various minor driving incidents. We are talking about small speeding violations or even driving without insurance.
