Traivelling enters bankruptcy proceedings in Vienna

Creditors Must File Claims by December 2026

  • Creditor Impact: Roughly 200 affected entities and individuals have until December 7, 2026, to file formal claims.
  • Asset Realization: Mag. Dr. Peter Sommerer has been appointed as insolvency administrator to audit remaining corporate assets ahead of the December 22 hearing.
  • Corporate Status: Investor bailout talks failed, and the Handelsgericht Wien confirmed no corporate restructuring or continuation plan is scheduled.

Unfinished B2B Software Architecture Halts Revenue Growth

Headquartered at Zentagasse 45/13 in the Margareten district of Vienna, Traivelling operated a digital booking platform designed to simplify sustainable cross-border rail and bus transit. The core strategy relied on lowering the logistical barriers of booking multi-leg international ground transport. Yet, the balance sheet tells a different story regarding execution.

According to findings from the credit protection association KSV1870, the primary driver of insolvency was a protracted delay in software development. The firm dedicated capital and engineering resources to build a specialized business-to-business (B2B) software interface. This proprietary software interface was meant to allow external enterprises to use Traivelling’s booking services. Management positioned this B2B layer as the foundational catalyst for scalable, long-term operational revenue.

When the software missed its targeted release windows, expected transaction volume failed to materialize. Leadership pursued fresh capital injections from private investors to bridge the liquidity gap, but negotiations failed to yield a binding agreement.

Commercial Court of Vienna Initiates Bankruptcy Proceedings

Following the breakdown of rescue talks, the company filed for administration. On Friday, October 23, the Commercial Court of Vienna formally initiated standard bankruptcy proceedings. Unlike a restructuring insolvency (Sanierungsverfahren), which permits ongoing operations under a court-approved debt-cut plan, this liquidation framework provides no provisions for business continuity.

The Handelsgericht Wien appointed Vienna-based attorney Mag. Dr. Peter Sommerer as the official insolvency administrator. Sommerer's immediate mandate involves securing company assets, auditing debtor records, and evaluating remaining proprietary technology assets.
