Trial of the Brussels attacks: the jury is made up of 5 men and 7 women

On March 22, 2016, two attacks were committed in Brussels, in a metro station and at the airport, killing 32 people and injuring hundreds.

The Assize Court will draw lots for 36 jurors, including 12 effective and 24 substitutes, from a panel of some 1,000 citizens who have been summoned to this hearing. About 300 of them have previously obtained an exemption. The court could exempt other prospective jurors still at the hearing on Wednesday. It is the president who will grant this favor or not, after having heard the arguments of each person who requests to be exempted from this civic duty.
