Tristan Thompson Joins Bitcoin Film Satoshi as Producer

“Bitcoin wasn’t born in a boardroom. It was released as open-source code by someone who chose to disappear,” producer Rick Dugdale stated as former NBA champion Tristan Thompson boarded the upcoming crypto feature film Satoshi.

Variety reported that Thompson, widely known in entertainment headlines for sharing two children with Khloé Kardashian, has officially joined the project as a producer. The film tackles the origins of Bitcoin, which was created in 2008 following the global financial crisis as an alternative to traditional financial institutions.

Filming Begins in Spring 2027 with Saudi Backing

The feature is slated to begin principal photography in spring 2027 across locations in Los Angeles and Saudi Arabia. Enderby Entertainment is producing Satoshi under a multi-picture agreement with Saudi Arabia’s Yellow Camel Studios. Production will center primarily at JAX Film Studios located in Riyadh.

Thompson will produce alongside Enderby principals Rick Dugdale and Dan Petrie Jr. Additional producers attached to the project include BDE Ventures founder Brian D. Evans, alongside actors Aaron Arnold and Austin Arnold, according to official statements from Enderby Entertainment.

The production strategy incorporates artificial intelligence tools, though representatives clarified that AI is not the primary mechanism for filming. A representative noted that it remains a traditional film production utilizing on-location shoots rather than relying entirely on synthetic sets.

Competing Cinematic Visions for Bitcoin’s Anonymous Creator

The cinematic landscape surrounding Satoshi Nakamoto features multiple competing projects. Doug Liman is currently directing a rival feature titled Bitcoin (also known as Killing Satoshi), which features a cast including Casey Affleck, Pete Davidson, Gal Gadot, and Isla Fisher. That project finished a rapid 20-day shoot inside a London gray box studio and generated industry discussion for utilizing AI to generate sets and lighting.

By contrast, the Enderby Entertainment production emphasizes physical locations and cultural authenticity. “We’re not interested in a sanitized version of that story,” Dugdale stated regarding the film’s gritty approach. “We’re bringing in people who understand the code, the culture and why it mattered from the beginning.”

Tristan Thompson Assesses Macroeconomic Digital Asset Shifts

Reflecting on his entry into the project, Tristan Thompson offered a direct assessment of the macroeconomic shifts driving digital assets. “We are entering a new financial era where money moves at the speed of the internet, value flows seamlessly across borders and entirely new systems of ownership and exchange are emerging,” Thompson stated.

Brian D. Evans echoed those sentiments regarding public perception of digital currencies. Evans argued that traditional media entities have frequently misunderstood the core demographic behind Bitcoin, emphasizing that the film focuses on capturing the accurate narrative of its creation rather than attempting to unmask the elusive developer.

The official logline positions the narrative around a troubled FBI agent and a defense attorney pressured by federal authorities to uncover Nakamoto’s real-world identity. The shooting script was penned by Nate Atkins and Jason Zada, built upon an original screenplay by Cam Cannon.
