The letter points out that Twitter has “serious concerns” that Meta had access to the company’s trade secrets and intellectual property to launch its new app, US media reports.

The company owned by billionaire Elon Musk says Meta hired ex-Twitter employees to create Threads, touted as an alternative platform to Twitter.

“Twitter intends to strictly enforce its intellectual property rights and requests that Meta take immediate steps to cease using any of Twitter’s trade secrets or highly confidential information,” the letter said.

Threads has been touted by Meta management as “our answer to Twitter” as user fury grows at Twitter owner Elon Musk, who has made numerous changes to the platform’s policies since he took over. bought the company last year.

More recently, Musk limited the number of posts a user can view in a day, encouraging users to pay for the Twitter Blue service to see more.

Meta Communications director Andy Stone has refuted Twitter’s allegations. “No one on the engineering team at Threads is a former Twitter employee,” he posted on Threads.

Millions of people signed up for Threads on day one of its launch, including at least 30 million on Thursday, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg said.
