Two Israelis killed in Hezbollah attack

A rocket hit a car and a man and a woman sitting in the car were killed instantly, an Israeli police statement said on Tuesday evening.

Fire crews were sent out to put out several fires that started as a result of rockets hitting the ground.

The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) then sent fighter jets on the wings to hit Hezbollah infrastructure in the Qabrikha area of southern Lebanon, from where the rockets aimed at the Golan Heights were launched. Israeli warplanes also struck military targets belonging to Hezbollah in the Kfarkela area of southern Lebanon, according to an IDF statement.

Earlier on Tuesday, one of Hezbollah leader Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah’s former bodyguards was killed in an Israeli airstrike on a vehicle on the main road between Beirut and Damascus, on the Syrian side of the border. Israeli security sources have said the former bodyguard was recently involved in arms shipments to the Iran-backed group.

Hezbollah says in a statement that the movement mourns the death of the former bodyguard Yasser Nimr Qarnabsh, but without specifying what kind of role he has had in the group.

Israel usually does not comment on attacks that take place inside Syria. When asked regarding Tuesday’s attack, an Israeli military spokesperson replied:

– We do not comment on reports in foreign media.
