Two More Arrests Made in Suspected Murder of Missing Limerick Woman Carrie Mullane

Two more individuals have been arrested in connection with the suspected murder of 39-year-old Carrie Mullane, who vanished after traveling from Limerick to Enniskillen, County Fermanagh, on October 10, 2026, the Irish Independent reported.

Police investigating the disappearance of Ms Mullane detained a man in his 30s and a woman in her 60s in the Enniskillen area, according to the Irish Independent. Both suspects remain in police custody. The Limerick Leader noted that the Moyross native has not been seen or heard from since arriving in Northern Ireland last month.

Detective Superintendent Richard Thornton from the Police Service of Northern Ireland’s Serious Crime Branch stated that the disappearance is extremely out of character. Our investigation into locating Carrie remains ongoing, Det Supt Thornton said, as reported by the Irish Independent.

Our enquiries to date have not established her whereabouts and have led us to hold serious concern that Carrie may have been murdered sometime after her arrival in Northern Ireland.

Michael Lynch, 35, of Trasna Park, Enniskillen, appeared via video link before Dungannon Magistrates’ Court, the BBC reported. Lynch is charged with the murder of Ms Mullane and preventing the lawful burial of a corpse. District Judge Conor Heaney denied bail, and Lynch is scheduled to appear again before Enniskillen Magistrates’ Court on November 30, according to the BBC.

During the court hearing, Detective Sergeant Lyons detailed that Lynch was the last person to see Ms Mullane and initially claimed she disappeared after he fell asleep on October 10, the BBC reported. Police later recovered a campervan that Lynch was witnessed cleaning on October 23, seizing it from a local scrapyard.

According to the BBC, forensic tests revealed bloodstains matching Ms Mullane’s DNA inside the vehicle, and CCTV footage traced the campervan moving toward a jetty near Carrybridge on Lough Erne during the early hours of October 11.

Lynch initially told police he received an incoherent Facebook message ending their relationship, and that she owed some money to unknown persons, the court heard.

When spoken to again on October 30, it is alleged he provided a different version of events, implying he had been knocked out by a substance administered by Mullane, though he was vague in description and provided no detail, stating He woke up and she was gone.

Law enforcement agencies from both jurisdictions are collaborating on the case. Detectives from the PSNI Major Investigation Team are working closely with An Garda Síochána to locate the missing woman, the Irish Independent reported. As part of these efforts, members of the Garda Water Unit carried out a search at Belturbet Harbour in County Cavan, though nothing was found to advance the investigation, according to Northern Sound.
