Tyrol: truck caught fire on the Inntalautobahn

A truck caught fire on Sunday followingnoon on the Tyrolean Inntalautobahn in the municipality of Fiè (district of Innsbruck-Land). The 49-year-old driver had previously heard loud engine noise and drove onto the hard shoulder. When he opened the hood, he found a fire in the engine compartment, police reported. This spread to the entire driver’s cabin in a very short time. The Innsbruck fire brigade quickly brought the fire under control.

Traffic jams in both directions

Because of the truck fire, the Inntal autobahn was briefly closed in both directions, which resulted in a heavy backlog on both sides. After the truck was recovered, the highway was reopened to all traffic.
