Exactly 263 deaths have died in close proximity to the corona vaccination in Austria. The report by ORF radio Ö1 on Wednesday caused a particular stir, according to which a 12-year-old boy in Tyrol died shortly after the Jauckerl – “Today” reported.
Not much is known about how Christa Wirthumer-Hoche, head of the competent Federal Office for Safety in Health Care, has to admit. Autopsies necessary but rare
“If you read it like that, you ask yourself what about this large number of cases. Is there a connection or isn’t there one?” The expert gives little encouragement.
The reason for this: In only very few cases is an autopsy arranged. Only relatives, medical officers or hospitals can initiate such an examination, the Federal Office has no power here. “We only get this information where it can be clarified,” explains Wirthumer-Hoche.
Clear commitment
Nevertheless, she is a clear advocate of vaccination across all age groups: “There is a risk, you can’t deny that. But the benefits are much higher!”
