Private companies with 50 or more employees have to carry out repatriation at the rate of two percent every year

Abu Dhabi: The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratization has approved the Cabinet resolution on increasing the number of expatriate employees in the private sector in the UAE by two percent. The resolution stipulates the employment of Swadeshi in skilled jobs in private sector organizations with fifty or more employees. The UAE Cabinet announced the resolution in May.

The ministry is closely monitoring the procedures followed by the institutions in relation to naturalization and the jobs offered to UAE nationals. In order to achieve the privatization goals, it is necessary for firms to employ indigenous people in skilled jobs, the ministry said on its official Twitter account.

Private companies with 50 or more employees have to carry out repatriation at the rate of two percent every year. In this way, indigenization will be increased to 10 percent by 2026. The aim is to provide employment to 12,000 natives in a year.

The deadline to implement the repatriation will end on December 31. The ministry will intensify the inspection from January 1. Firms that do not implement indigenousization will have to pay fines by January. Firms that do not comply with the law and provide false information will be fined between Dh20,000 and Dh100,000.

At present, one native should be appointed for every 50 workers. Firms that do not employ a worker must pay a fine of Dh6,000 per month and Dh72,000 per year. This amount will be given to natives. Penalty will increase depending on the number of employees. The native employees who do not enter the work after receiving the work permit will have to pay a fine of 20,000 dirhams.

Enormous benefits have been announced for companies doing more than the prescribed limit. The work permit fee for foreign workers in establishments implementing triple indigenization has been reduced from Dh3750 to Dh250. If double repatriation is implemented, the work permit fee of foreign workers is 1200 dirhams each.
