The intelligence of the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense allocated a reward of 100,000 dollars, yesterday, Sunday, for the arrest of Igor Strelkov Girkin.
In the Jerusalem Post report, the newspaper revealed that Gherkin was a former agent of the Russian Federal Security Service and a key figure in Russia’s intervention in Ukraine in 2014, when Kremlin-backed separatists took over Slovansk in Donetsk.
“Girkin served as a military commander in Slovensk in the early months of the 2014 conflict. His nickname was Igor Strelkov, which means shooter in Russian, and he once boasted that he had sparked the war in Ukraine.”
Malaysia Airlines plane shot down
According to the newspaper, Jerkin is wanted by the Netherlands for his participation in the downing of Malaysian Airlines flight MH17 over Ukraine, killing 283 people.
The Security Service of Ukraine and the Prosecutor General’s Office filed a number of cases against Girkin on charges of terrorist activities, torture, murder and violation of state sovereignty.
Documents found in his office in Slovensk after he fled revealed that he had ordered the execution of at least 3 by firing squad in Donetsk after hasty military trials.
In August 2014, he was summoned to Moscow, where he appeared on national radio programs and remained relatively absent, until after the Russian invasion last February he appeared as a prominent military blogger.
