Security measures have been put in place throughout Ukraine against possible Russian attacks this Friday, exactly one year after the start of the invasion of Moscow.

Classes have been moved online, working from home is encouraged, and security patrols have been strengthened to minimize the potential impact of Russian attacks.

Ukrainian schools have been advised to hold their classes online “as a precautionary measure,” Education Minister Serhiy Shkarlet said on Tuesday.

In Kyiv, a special security protocol has been drawn up for all educational centers. The trainees will receive online classes from February 22 to 24 in the city and throughout the Kyiv region, according to the regional military administration.

The decision was made “due to the increased threat of enemy bombing and possible provocative actions on the eve of the first anniversary of the large-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine,” he said.

Additional security measures will also be applied in the Kherson region of northeastern Ukraine, the regional military administration said in a statement on Wednesday.

Most public offices and businesses will work remotely, with the exception of critical infrastructure facilities, he said.

The distribution of humanitarian aid and cash payments at post offices will be limited, and law enforcement officers will step up patrols in places where crowds may congregate, the administration said.

However, the so-called invincibility points, where people can charge their devices and warm up, will work 24 hours a day, he added.

The city’s mayor, Ihor Terekhov, said it is difficult to predict what the Russian forces will do tomorrow.

“Many people are asking now: what will happen? I cannot say what will happen, because it depends on our opponent, on our enemy,” Terekhov said in a videotaped speech.

“No one understands what is in his head, no one knows.”
