Ukraine’s military said today it was reinforcing its troops “holding fast” in the eastern city of Avdiivka, where heavy fighting has been raging with Russian forces that have advanced in recent days.
“According to the decision taken, the planned reinforcement of units is underway and troops are conducting tactical movements on the threatened axes,” the Ukrainian military said on social media.
“Ukrainian defenders are still pushing back the enemy trying to encircle Avdiivka (…) Ukrainian soldiers are holding firm,” the army added.
The map of the DeepState program, which is close to the Ukrainian military, today recorded the closure of a small enclave south of Avdiivka that previously appeared to be under the control of the Ukrainian military.

Earlier today, the Ukrainian general who commands this zone, Oleksandr Tarnafksi, had spoken of “fierce fighting” in Avdiivka.
“Our troops are using all available forces and all available means to repel the enemy,” he added.
According to the protothema, he also said that Ukrainian forces are creating new defensive positions around Avdiyivka, signaling a potential retreat in the face of waves of Russian attacks that have intensified since October 2023.
“New positions have been created and strong fortifications are still being established taking into account all possible scenarios,” Commander Tarnafksi said.
