The second winter since the war is approaching while Ukraine’s counteroffensive is not making any significant progress.
It is expected to be a harsh winter for Ukraine as the Russian military is strong in winter and even Western weapons support is showing signs of division.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky visited Granada, Spain to attend the European Political Community Summit.
He emphasized that Ukraine’s top priority ahead of winter is to strengthen its air defense network.

However, many predict that this winter will be harsh for Ukraine.
This is because the Russian army is traditionally strong in the winter, and a major counterattack is not easy due to the ‘Rasputitsa’ phenomenon, in which the ground becomes muddy during the season.
Signs of a rift in the West over weapons support are also causing great negative news for Ukraine.
In fact, in the United States, which is the largest supporter, military support worth about 32 trillion won to Ukraine was excluded from the temporary budget due to differences of opinion between the Republican Party and the Democratic Party.
President Joe Biden announced that he would restore it in the main budget, but there is considerable opposition from hardliners in the Republican Party.

The European Union emphasized support for Ukraine at a foreign ministers’ meeting and announced that it would review about 7 trillion won in military support next year.
However, Hungary, Poland, and Latvia, Ukraine’s allies, are showing signs of withdrawal by not participating in the meeting.
Slovakia is also changing direction to withdraw support for Ukraine after the pro-Russian Social Democratic Party took first place in the general election.
On the other hand, Russia increased next year’s defense budget by nearly 70%, seemingly reflecting its confidence in winter combat.
There is also analysis that President Putin will engage in a long-term war in the hope that former President Trump will be re-elected.
