NEWTON, Mass. – After trailing at the break, the third-ranked North Carolina women’s soccer team rallied for a 1-1 draw in the regular season finale on Thursday night in Newton, Massachusetts, at the Newton Campus Soccer Field.

Following the tie, the Tar Heels finish the regular season with a 10-0-8 overall mark and a 5-0-5 record in Atlantic Coast Conference play. It is the first time UNC has finished the regular season without a loss since 2004.

The Eagles conclude their season at 3-9-6 (0-6-4 ACC).

How It Happened

Carolina set a fast pace early on, but it was Boston College which took advantage of a set piece to jump out to a 1-0 lead in the 32nd minute.
Isabel Cox had an opportunity to respond two minutes later with a chance right in front of the goal, which was ultimately denied by BC keeper Wiebke Willebrandt.
Despite holding a 9-2 advantage in shots with a 4-1 edge in shots on frame, UNC went into the break trailing for the first time this season.
Receiving the ball from Savy King down the right lane, Ally Sentnor cut inside the box to fire a left-footed strike to the upper right in the 62nd minute to level the score at one apiece.
The Tar Heels were able to create several other scoring chances but were unable to convert, ending the regular season with a program-record 10 draws.

Inside the Box Score

Sentnor netted her sixth goal of the season playing in her home state. She ranks second on the team with six goals and 16 points.
UNC out-shot BC 21-3, including 12-2 on target. Bella Sember led all players with five shots and four on frame.
Emmie Allen made one save between the posts. She and King logged a full 90 minutes.
The Tar Heels remain unbeaten against the Eagles on the road, moving to 12-0-1 in Massachusetts.
Cox made her 105th career appearance to continue leading all active Division I players. She is tied for seventh all-time in NCAA Division I history and is two games shy of matching UNC’s program record.
