The blame game continues in Sudan over who is responsible for this new round of violence, with each side blaming the other.

At the center of this is a power struggle between Sudan’s two most powerful generals, General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, who is the head of the Sovereignty Council and leader of the country, and his rival, his deputy, who is known as Hemedti, or General Mohamed Hamdan.

Speaking to CNN reporter Larry Madu, Hemedti said he remains committed to peace, is committed to returning to a civilian-led government in Sudan, and has apologized to the Sudanese people and the people who live there.

Hamidti said in his speech: “I would like to say to the Sudanese people, we are very sorry. This calamity that is happening is very big, terrifying all the people and guests from embassies and communities. We are very sorry for this thing, but as we said, we were forced into this matter by Al-Burhan.” We only defended ourselves, but we are sorry and say to the Sudanese people, God willing, this crisis will end and Sudan will return better than it was, and this will be an example for the future.
