The director of a skin care clinic who caused burns to a customer while performing fat-dissolving treatment without a license was sentenced to probation.

Mr. A is accused of causing burns while operating a skin care clinic in Haeundae-gu, Busan and Gangnam, Seoul from May 2019 to February 2021 while performing lipolysis procedures by injecting drugs into customers’ abdomen and waist areas using a spray syringe without a license. was handed over to trial.
Mr. A was found to have practiced medicine without a license by using a syringe for lipolysis treatment, which is registered as a class 2 medical device and requires a doctor’s prescription. At trial, Mr. A claimed, “I did not know whether fat dissolution surgery was a medical practice,” but this was not accepted.
The court said, “Considering comprehensively the level of knowledge and experience in lipolysis procedures, Mr. A’s actions cannot be tolerated in light of social norms,” adding, “Unlicensed medical practice is a serious crime that harms public health, but A “It actually resulted in injury to the person undergoing the procedure,” he said.
