God’s Guidance: Listening to His Voice and Following His Direction

2024-05-12 01:20:31

It's up to us to follow God's direction

Swave the scriptures

Now send men to Jaffa, and bring Simon, surnamed Peter; he is staying with a certain Simon, a tanner, whose house is near the sea. (…) Cornelius called two of his servants, and a pious soldier (…) and after telling them everything, he sent them in Jaffa.
Acts 10.5-8

God told Cornelius what he needed to do to accomplish God’s will. God speaks in detail, and He will show you where to go if you listen. He does not hide instructions from us.

Some think that 1 Corinthians 2.9 frees us from knowing what God wants us to do. We can read there: What eye has not seen, what ear has not heard, what has not entered into the heart of man, God has prepared for those who love him. These people think that we cannot always know what God wants. But they forget the following verse: It is to us that God has revealed it, through his Spirit.

God is a God of revelation. If you don’t hear His voice clearly, put yourself in a place where you can hear Him, then realign yourself. Paul wrote in Ephesians 1:18 that we must pray that the eyes of our understanding may be enlightened, because God wants us to see and understand.

Once you receive God’s direction, it is up to you to follow it. God does not withhold information from you, but you must be ready to listen and willing to obey for God’s blessing to work in your life.

Elisten to the voice of God

Are you having difficulty receiving God’s direction for your life? Take the time to listen to what God wants to say to you about this.

Praying is simple. Talk to God like you would your closest friend. God loves you and can hear everything. Here is an example of a prayer: Lord, I would like to hear your voice so much better. As Paul prayed, I want to ask you to open the eyes of my understanding. May my heart be more receptive to what you want to tell me. Amen.

Lelder Dieu

Today you can take some time to thank the Lord. If you are here, it is because he has guided you until now. Praise the good shepherd, who has been in control of your life from the moment you turned it over to him. It guides you and will continue to do so!

Aact today

Now you can take some listening time today. Ask God a question, focus your attention on him and wait for his answer (an image, a vision, a verse…). Repeat this exercise as often as you can.

Hhonor the Lord

Our journey for the day ends. Let us pray together to honor our God.

Lord, you are the one who guides my life in your projects. I am listening to you, God, my shepherd. Yours be the kingdom, the power and the glory, amen !
