The best-known part of the Cannes Film Festival is the official selection.

But what is less known is that it is divided into several categories: official competition, Cannes Première, out-of-competition films, midnight screenings, special screenings and the Un certain regard category.

Each section has its specialty. But only the official competition, which brings together 21 films, awards the famous Palme d’Or at the end of the festival. We take stock in video.

In addition to these selections, there are also transverse prizes, such as the Caméra d’Or, which awards the best first film, all selections combined.

There is also the Golden Eye (yes, there is a lot of gold) for the best documentary.

Finally, there is also the Queer Palm, which deals with themes or characters LGBT +, feminist, or challenging gender norms.

And in all that, there are films that can be part of certain selections, but are considered out of competition.

This is the case of the new Indiana Jonesof The Idol with Lily Rose-Depp and The Weeknd, from Martin Scorsese’s latest film, or from the film A night, d’Alex Lutz.
