Unusual: a robot woman named CEO of a Chinese company with several thousand employees

For the first time, a female robot with artificial intelligence has been appointed CEO of a major corporation in China.

When science fiction becomes reality. In China, a female robot, or rather a robot with a female appearance, has been appointed as the head of a large company, reports franceinfo.

NetDragon Websoft, one of the Chinese leaders in video games, has entrusted this artificial intelligence in a mold of a woman’s body with the reins of its Fujian subsidiary NetDragon Websoft.

The idea had germinated in 2017 when the company decided to create a virtual character and give him responsibilities. At the time, the goal was to prove to its customers that the artificial intelligence it develops for its games could also work in the daily life of a company.

This female robot, named Tang Wu, first served as the company’s No. 2, then became CEO, a rotating position at Fujian NetDragon Websoft. A first.

Virtual digital leader

This “virtual digital leader”, with a human appearance, leads a company of several thousand employees with a turnover of billions of dollars.

If Tang Wu does not exist in the physical universe, she appears on the computer screens of her collaborators in the form of a female humanoid, dressed in a strict costume and perfectly combed, who can express herself thanks to its artificial intelligence.

In reality, however, this robot does not actually run the company. Tang Wu remains programmed by humans who can also “unplug” her at any time.

24 hours a day and without pay

The CEO robot, once properly programmed, works almost normally. She is able to approve or sign documents, like any business manager, but also to manage projects, evaluate staff performance or possibly take sanctions.

Her strengths: rationality and logic, never disturbed by feelings since she experiences none. But above all: she can work 24 hours a day, without being paid…
