The Proximus channel, Pickx +, launches its new series of debates and documentaries, “. doc” from this evening of September 29. Its goal ? Dissect social subjects (royalty, euthanasia, drugs, slavery, etc.) which give rise to debates on set. Hosted by Malou Vandercammen, “.doc” is a program where the ex-host of Tipik (who had slammed the door of RTBF) accompanied by guests, witnesses and hand-picked experts, returns to certain documentaries to make the update on the situation in Belgium. On the menu to start this 3rd season? “The Long Night.” This documentary follows those who are “tangled in the web of underage sex trafficking woven deep into the cracks of American society, in a heartbreaking exploration of the lives destroyed by this trafficking.”

“I was directly raped by the person who was there”
First episode this Friday, at 11:20 p.m., with the chilling testimony of Maïté Lonne, victim of a child crime network in Liège when she was barely in her twenties. These atrocious facts, little publicized at the time, resurface with this show where she comes on set to testify to her story. “A company offered me a job interview. It was in a Greek restaurant in Liège. When I went there, there was no job interview. I was directly raped by the person who was there. Afterwards, I was sold in this network for six months.” And continue. “At the time, no other victims crossed paths with another victim. We were between 14 and 22 years old, there were minors in the network. It was at the trial that I learned that there were more than a hundred of us.”
The “.doc” debate, with Emilie Coomans from Child Focus and Emmanuelle Vacher from ECPAT Belgium, highlights the role of social networks in this type of morality issue. “The head of my network was called the Facebook pimp by the press. He looked at each person’s Facebook profile. Then he sold us on 2ememain.be. So it wasn’t even a pedophile site. But customers know very well which keywords they should search for. I was sold between two Ikéa tables on 2ememain.”
Since then, Maïté has fought alongside various associations against sexual exploitation and human trafficking for sexual purposes. “The Dutroux affair having terrorized Belgium so much that it has become a terrifying subject for Belgians. In the collective unconscious, it is inconceivable. You can’t want to do that to a child.”
