The function of sending videos in HD on WhatsApp comes out of beta and begins its deployment on our smartphones. Very easy to use, it is however quite limited.

The whatsapp instant messaging finally seems to want to let us make the most of the capabilities of our smartphones. More specifically of the quality of photos and videos that we can capture with. Recently, the Meta application allows you to share photos in their original definition, without compression. It therefore lacked the possibility of doing the same with videos, a feature that WhatsApp had been testing in beta since last June.
At that time we already knew thatit would not be an outright transfer, without alteration of any kind on the file. We can understand this insofar as our mobile devices almost all film in 4K by default. The size of the videos is therefore very important, and sharing them as is could cause problems for the messaging servers in the long run. However, the maximum limit set for sending in HD is disappointing.
How to send HD video on WhatsApp
The function is very easy to use. When you’re done filming something from WhatsApp appyou will see at the top of the screen a icone HD. Touch it to choose between the compressed definition, 480por the one in HD… in 720p only, either 1280 x 720 pixelsas our colleagues fromAndroid Headlines. The total weight is displayed in both cases. Knowing that the limit allowed by WhatsApp is 16 MB for a videoone can imagine that the goal is not to cross it despite an increase in definition.

Even if we must not forget what this implies at the technical level, we are a little disappointed that Meta could not do better. Of course, there remains the possibility of transfer your video as a document, which will not be compressed by the application. Being able to do without this method, however, would have been welcome.
