Clear condemnation of all right-wing extremist activities, no relativization, no more six-figure cash flows and orders to relevant media and organizations

Linz (OTS) – “A problem can only be solved if you recognize it as such and clearly name it. That is still not the case. As long as the whole of politics, all parliamentary groups, do not stand united against right-wing extremism without any relativization, this will remain a serious problem in Upper Austria. And as long as right-wing extremism finds fertile breeding ground here, the country will remain the target and home of relevant groups, events, right-wing extremists and conspiracy theorists. It’s not about badmouthing the state of Upper Austria. On the contrary, it is a question of finally freeing it from this threat to democracy,” emphasizes the Green Club chairman, State Deputy Severin Mayr, after the state security council called for by the Greens on the shocking finds of weapons and the arrests of right-wing extremists.

Object 21, identitarian houses and tours, the congress of the “Defenders of Europe” in the Redoutensäle, headquarters of a right-wing extremist media cluster, most right-wing extremist crimes, the most frequent Corona demos involving well-known right-wing extremists, burning asylum quarters and desecrated concentration camp memorials and now the current massive find of weapons including arrests: “To claim that Upper Austria has no problem with right-wing extremism is pure denial of reality. Fixing this is a fundamental task and will take longer. Increased prevention work is good, but only one tool among many. Without a flawless stance on the part of politicians, through all shades and levels, all other efforts will remain incomplete,” emphasizes Mayr.

A central pillar in the fight against right-wing extremism is and remains the work of the authorities, according to security spokeswoman Anne-Sophie Bauer: “The right-wing extremists are not storing their arsenal of weapons in Upper Austria because there was no space in other federal states. They do it because the relevant scene here has developed and grown strong. The number of weapons and Nazi materials found together show the enormously dangerous potential for politically motivated violence in the right-wing extremist milieu. The authorities clearly have to act against this with all the force of the law. And politics has to plow up this established breeding ground. With their own measures, together with the security authorities, but above all independently with their embassies. Clear condemnation for any incident. No more relevant events and meetings, no six-figure cash flows and orders to relevant media and organizations. The door for right-wing extremism must be locked in Upper Austria, not just ajar,” emphasizes Bauer.
