“Lebanon Debate”

A little while ago, attention turned to the Patriarchal edifice, where US Ambassador Dorothy Shea visited the Maronite Patriarch, Mar Bechara Boutros Al-Rai, for the last time, where a meeting was held that was dominated by a friendly atmosphere between them.

The circles monitoring the meeting recorded for “Lebanon Debate” that Patriarch Al-Rahi regretted the ambassador’s departure from Lebanon, as he expressed to her that he was affected by her departure and that he would miss her very much. The ambassador replied that she had contradictory feelings, and pointed out that “her departure happened suddenly because in the United States it is difficult To know when your transfer decision is coming.”

Al-Rai pointed out that “the American ambassador does not stay at his duty station for more than three years, but she specifically stayed for 4 years, and she did not feel that these years had passed so quickly.”

She told the Patriarch, “The one who will succeed her is Lisa Johnson. She was in Lebanon from 2002 to 2004, and I told him that he would be comfortable dealing with her, as she is a very good person.”

She informed him that she would leave Lebanon in the next few days for Washington and then to New York.
