Forwards Mallory Swanson and Catarina Macario have made their long-awaited return to the United States women’s national team after recovering from major knee injuries. Swanson last played for the USWNT in April 2023 before tearing her left patella tendon, while Macario suffered an ACL tear in early 2022. Both players have been included in the squad for the upcoming SheBelieves Cup, where the USWNT will face Japan and either Canada or Brazil.
The return of Swanson and Macario is a significant boost for the USWNT, as they bring a wealth of talent and experience to the team. Swanson had scored seven goals in the first five games of 2023 before her injury, while Macario was a key player in former coach Vlatko Andonovski’s roster rebuild
