After twenty years of therapy, Vahina Giocante breaks the silence in her book entitled Open bodypublished by Robert Laffont, and in an interview given to Seven to eight on TF1, this Sunday March 24. “What if this was the moment of transparency of sharing and courage”, writes the 42-year-old actress in her book. It was during a bath at the age of 4 or 5 with her father that she explained that she was a victim of incest for the first time. Her mother was not present, her parents having separated when she was 1.5 years old. “I was on vacation, so the space was very free, very conducive to these kinds of moments. There were naps too, with touching. These were never moments of violence, but hugs that rocked”says the actress. “Besides, he says it: ‘It’s getting out of hand!’”, she continues. Only these “hugs that slip away (…) intensify with the years”. “Thank God, not until penetration and I think that’s what saved me”specifies the actress seen in particular in 99 francs.
More “there is fellatio”, says Vahina Giocante facing the camera. At the time, she was only seven years old and spoke of“disgust”. “We go beyond the limit of a father’s tenderness and move on to the desire of a man”analyzes the one who specifies that his father suggested that he try things “always in the form of a game or experience”. “And you don’t tell anyone about it, why?”asked Audrey Crespo-Mara. “He tells me that if I talk about it the consequences could be very serious, he could go to prison and we would be separated forever”replies the one who believes that her father had it “at that time, made an accessory to crime”. Vahina Giocante says she was a victim of incest from the age of 5 to 10. She then asks her mother not to go on vacation to her father anymore. “I think he was very afraid at that moment, he was afraid that I would speak”she remembers on TF1.
Found guilty of incest, Vahina Giocante’s father was sentenced
“Silence increases the feeling of shame. You grow and the feeling of shame grows”, explains Vahina Giocante. It’s when she understands that this has happened again to her little sister who decides at the age of 8 to no longer see their father either that she decides to act. “It was intolerable and at that time I also had another 2-year-old little sister (on her father’s side, editor’s note). So I knew we had to put an end to it”she recalled.
Trembling, but determined”, she then calls her father. She then tells him that she remembers everything and has the will to “to understand”. He replies: “You have no idea the guilt that has been lying under my bed for all these years”. She then tells him that she is going to file a complaint against him. After two years of investigation, father and daughter found themselves before the judge. He then tries to pass her off as a “perverse”, but is caught in his own trap. His father was sentenced to three years in prison, one year of which was suspended. He says to himself “victim of a miscarriage of justice”. Vahina Giocante recalls that her case is one of the 3% of cases of this type which result in a conviction.
