Vampire bats really feed on blood

Stealthy and discreet, vampire bats are aptly named; they are the only bat specimens to feed on blood.

To find their victims, they use all of their senses: long-range vision, highly developed sense of smell, keen hearing and echolocation. Their noses even have pits thermosensibles that detect the heat of warm-blooded animals. Once they land on an animal, they lay these pits on its skin to locate capillaries filled with warm blood that are close to the surface.
