Vehicles without license plates driving on the road… Turns out, it was because of the strike by the cargo union.

Kia is transporting vehicles that have not been issued with license plates directly to the stockyard. It is because of the general strike of the cargo solidarity of the KCTU.

According to the automobile industry on the 8th, Kia is shipping new Sportage cars produced at the Gwangju and Gwangmyeong factories on the same day directly to the stockyard.

Normally, the finished car would be loaded onto a car carrier and moved to the stockyard, but when the car carrier transport was stopped due to a strike by the cargo solidarity, factory employees are driving the car and moving it to the stockyard as a desperate measure.

For this purpose, it is known that Kia has been issued a temporary driving permit from the competent local government.

On the other hand, Hyundai Motor Group has had problems with supply and demand for some parts due to the cargo coalition’s refusal to transport it, causing some setbacks in production at its Ulsan plant.

As it became difficult to mobilize car carriers due to the strike by the cargo coalition, Kia Motors is using the ordeal to obtain a temporary driving permit and drive the finished car directly. /Photo = Yonhap News
