Juarez City- Carlos Alberto Peña, when he was wounded by the shots that went through the windows of the Little Caesars restaurant during the attack on some radio communicators, could not ask for help or express to those around him his feelings, the reason… he is mute from birth.
His mother, Hortencia Peña, received a video call from her son on Thursday afternoon to ask for help with sign language, since she indicated that Carlos is mute from birth but communicates this way and not everyone understands him.
“I found out through the video call that my son made, you can see in the video when my son crawls on his phone, it was very shocking that he made the video call to me, I saw how he expressed that something had happened to him, I already asked him what had happened to him and he focuses his phone on his legs.
Carlos, 25, works in the mornings at a maquiladora company, says his mother, and in the afternoons he works as a fast food delivery man on digital platforms to improve the economic situation of his family, made up of his wife and two daughters, one barely one year old.
Hortencia assures that her son was at the wrong time and place, that Thursday afternoon he was picking up a pizza to deliver it when he was the target of the bullets of criminals who sought to spread panic in the city.
After being injured, he was taken to a Social Security hospital where he has undergone surgery twice with success and still has at least a couple more operations left, said his mother.
The woman assures that her son is very charismatic and appreciated by many people, especially co-workers who have shown support for her son with various contributions, asking about his state of health and visiting him.
Hortencia has faith that her son will recover, she knows that it will not be quick and the process will be painful, but he will recover since he was one of the many innocent victims of that tragic day, in which he insisted, Carlos was there and the wrong time.
