Last July, journalist George Eddy suffered a cardiac arrest. Fortunately for him, Maxime Lang, a young man of 21, provided him with first aid. Since then, they have been raising awareness together about life-saving actions.
It’s impossible to keep George Eddy away from the basketball courts for very long. His doctors have of course forbidden him from playing intense matches, but he can still enjoy a shooting contest. Last July, the famous sports journalist suffered a cardiac arrest. He owes his life to Maxime Lang, with whom he plays several times a week. The young man gave him first aid. “It’s called sudden death. You lose consciousness. It’s like you’re dead.”describes the 67-year-old survivor.
13 minutes of cardiac massage
On the phone with the emergency services, Maxime Lang let himself be guided. “George stops breathing and the SAMU tells us that we need to start cardiac massage.”remembers the 21-year-old young man, who then feared “do badly” or “to break his ribs”. However, he assures that “not to launch would have been a tragedy or a mistake”. Maxime Lang performed 13 long minutes of cardiac massage until help arrived. Since then, the two friends foalt testify to raise awareness of actions that save.
