NASA released a video of Earth transiting behind the Moon on November 28. The images were Captured by the Orion spacecraft of the Artemis 1 mission.

The clip came as the Orion mission was in its 13th day, which marked the expedition’s equator, and the spacecraft was still in distant retrograde orbit. According to the space agency, the earth passed behind the moon when Orion reached its farthest distance from our planet, 432,210 kilometers. “This is the farthest distance any spacecraft designed to transport humans has traveled,” NASA published.

According to the post, the speed of the images exceeds 900 times the real speed; furthermore, the video was rotated and cropped.

The Artemis 1 mission was launched on November 16, 2022. and lasts for 42 days. Its objective is to test the performance of deep space exploration systems, which are the SLS rocket -the most powerful built to date- and the Orion spacecraft, as well as the ground systems of the Kennedy Space Center, according to what was published.
