Since its launch in 2002, the Louis Vuitton Tambour has been reinterpreted numerous times. Today, it is getting a nice makeover with a refined design, an integrated bracelet, a “stepped” dial and a high-end movement.
Design
This new 40 mm steel Drum is a unisex watch par excellence whose recessed back gives it an astonishing thinness. This illusion is reinforced by the curved drop links which also guarantee great comfort when wearing.
Special feature
A true success which required hundreds of hours of work, the dial has four different levels bringing three-dimensionality to the whole. A depth underlined by the finishes – brushed, polished and microblasted – which capture the light with the slightest movements of the wrist. Attention to detail obliges, the concave minute markers in white gold on the flange correspond to the convex ones on the hour circle.
Movement
Meticulously decorated, it is the automatic in-house caliber that makes the heart of this remarkable piece beat. Offering a precision of between -4s and +6s, it is chronometer certified by the Geneva Chronometric Observatory, a first in the watchmaking sphere.

During the Antiquorum sale on November 4 in Geneva, a Montblanc Meisterstuck Heritage Perpetual Calendar in steel from 2015, 39 mm diameter and automatic caliber, perpetual calendar and moon phase, silver dial with a slightly sunburst finish, was estimated at between 3,000 and 5,000 Swiss francs (3,200 – 5,300 euros). It was sold for 4,250 Swiss francs, or 4,411 euros.
Cartier, 3,936 euros
The Artcurial online sale organized from October 26 to November 2 offered a Santos Galbée de Cartier (2000), in steel, opaline guilloché dial, Arabic numerals, railroad minute track, date window and secret signature. Estimated between 800 and 1,200 euros, the quartz watch has more than tripled its high price range to 3,936 euros!
