Watch .. Al-Azmi comments on slapping another poet in the face .. and explains the difference between the old and the new generation in the discussion arena

Al-Marsad newspaper: The poet Habib Al-Azmi sent a message to the new generation in the arena of poetic debate after the repeated incidents of the attacks, the last of which was the slapping of another poet in the face.

Al-Azmi said during his intervention with the “MBC Week” program, “We must deal in an elegant manner, whether in the dialogue or otherwise, because many people look at us and quote some of our behavior.”

We must be an example

And he continued, Saudi society is known for its morals and generosity, and we must set an example because we are in the country of Islam and the Qibla of Muslims.

He added, we should be aware of the fact that we did not know the dialogue in this way.

He pointed out that the quality of poetry does not depend on the dialogue, but on the poet’s poetic ability and the culture of the audience.

The difference between the old and the new generation in poetic dialogue

On the difference between the old and new generation in the poetic dialogue, he said: “Many things have changed. In the past, the responsibility was limited to the poet because the subject belongs to him, and he is the one who decides if he will respond tonight or tomorrow, and the audience was only listening and not interfering unless there were some transgressions that are not accepted by custom or Religion, so the wise and wise people intervene, but these are rare cases, pointing out that the topic is finished and poets do not repeat what happened.

And he continued, “Now, poetry at the beginning of the conversation is in the hands of everyone, and some of the audience speaks, and everyone has Snapchat and others.

Tribal strife and projections on living and dead poets

He added, there are tribal strife and projections on the living and dead poets, and a spark may be a fuse that leads to problems. He went on to say, as for the problems that occur in the public, the gathering is a normal thing, and even in restaurants, if people gather, a problem can occur.

He concluded, “Excesses are not accepted in dialogue or anything else.”
