Earthquake expert and researcher Frank Hugerpets topped the news and social media platforms after his prediction that an earthquake would occur in Turkey and Syria, to become a “reference” for many, especially for international media, in news of earthquakes and their future.
But does the position of the planets really have an effect on earthquakes?
“Scientifically, nothing proves the effect of the positions and movement of the planets on earthquakes,” confirms the head of the Department and Professor of Astrophysics at Notre Dame University, Dr. Bassem Sabra.
In his speech to “An-Nahar”, he explains that by going back thousands of years, and if we take the positions of the planets with their dates and count the number of earthquakes, we will find that there is a coincidence of up to 50 percent. Here we are talking about what we colloquially call “Tura Naqsha”, meaning that it is nothing more than a coincidence and there is no scientific or logical relationship between these variables, contrary to what has been scientifically proven, which is a foregone conclusion that “the movement of the moon and its position have an impact on the tides, so of course the tides follow the movement of the moon”.
