Few would guess that Jitka Zelenková is seventy-three years old. This ageless Czech singer seems to have found the recipe for the elixir of youth. Due to her beauty, she was courted by many men throughout her life, but the right one was not found among them. And so today she is single and childless. What made her do it?
The singer, who worked alongside master Karel Gott for fourteen long years, claims that she actually never wanted to get married. Of course, she dealt with this question, but unfortunately, fate never threw her the kind of man she wanted to marry.
“Unfortunately, a suitable husband did not appear on the horizon. I didn’t want to push someone to the town hall at all costs and then get divorced in two years or raise children alone – that seemed irresponsible to me,” she once told the Blesk newspaper.
At the same time, in the past she maintained a relationship with the musician, lyricist and composer Ladislav Štaidl for a relatively long time. The lovers cooed together for eleven years, but Štaidl then preferred Iveta Bartošová, which broke Zelenková’s heart.
“For a relationship to end with a happy ending or, on the contrary, very drastically, one important aspect was missing – a great and burning love. And so we just liked each other very much and our relationship was based on friendship, common professional interests and the solitude of long tours,” the musician wrote about his relationship with Zelenkova in his book.
Shtaidl’s lovers laughed at her
Zelenková had no illusions, she knew very well that she was not his only lover. The singer admitted that she even knew personally some of the women with whom she “shared” Štaidla, and they discussed the relationship together. “They laughed at me, but I loved him,” the website reports Zelenková as saying iprima.cz.
Despite the wild past, he remembers Štaidl fondly. Although they did not see each other very often, they remained friends and Zelenková admitted that even after all these years, her ex-lover was able to make her laugh with his sarcastic humor. Ladislav Štaidl died in 2021 at the age of 75 as a result of the covid-19 disease.
Despite all the struggles that the singer experienced with men, she revealed that even today she has no problem falling in love. But when it comes to true love, she is very cautious, perhaps even skeptical. “I’m not the youngest anymore and I’m careful in advance. I just don’t want to jump headlong into anything anymore, because my heart might not be able to take it anymore. I used to take it sportingly, but now I’m afraid,” she says in an interview with expres.cz.
But she said she never desired marriage, perhaps because she herself never had an ideal example in front of her eyes. “I never met the whole family. I admire when someone succeeds in creating a family. But I don’t regret that this is not my case,” commented the childless and single Zelenková on her situation.
Covert operation and leaving the apartment
The fact that a lot of men always hung around Zelenková has a clear reason. She was and still is a beautiful woman who today looks really respectable for her age. And how does he do it? “I exercise, try to eat healthy, spend time in nature and laugh. I always took good care of myself. Mainly for hair and body, so it probably paid off,” revealed the recipe for eternal youth of the artist with a velvety voice.
However, with age comes various troubles, and even Zelenková did not avoid one such unpleasant matter. Last year she underwent a total hip replacement, which she tried not to let anyone know about. As reported by the daily Aha!, she did not even live in her apartment during her recovery, but her friends took care of her.
She did a lot of things to prevent Zelenková from having to go under the rug. She went to the spa and was also in the Rehabilitation Hospital in Beroun. But then the pain was so unbearable that the artist recognized that surgery would be the most appropriate option. Before that, last year she managed to congratulate her colleague Felix Slováček in Lucerne on his eightieth birthday.
