The zero case of this infection is an unvaccinated pregnant woman, according to the Israeli Ministry of Health confirmed this Sunday to Efe. The woman was discharged on December 30 after being treated for mild symptoms derived from this double infection, said the digital Times of Israel.
However, Israel is not the first country to detect and report this case. Some people in the United States were detected with “flurone” during the first year of the coronavirus pandemic.
Experts from the Ministry of Health believe that there are similar cases, not yet identified, when the country registers almost two thousand people hospitalized for flu, while the positives of coronavirus from the omicron variant increase.
However, the alerts are on because the circulation of the flu and covid-19 viruses at the same time worries about the high risk for the population, especially vulnerable, since the two diseases affect the upper respiratory system.

Likewise, experts warn that the combination of both viruses doubles the possibility of serious diseases and mortality and it could mean not only a setback in the efforts to combat and coexist with the coronavirus, thanks to the vaccine, but also a considerable risk of hospital collapse, as seen in different countries of the world at the beginning of the pandemic.
In this regard, Erez Barenboim, general director of the Samson Assuta Ashdod Hospital, explained that “the concurrent spikes of influenza and Covid could mean the collapse of Israel’s hospitals.”
