What’s happening for spring? Tøsne on the way to North Jutland

Hopefully you have enjoyed some warm days in northern Jutland – if you have otherwise found shelter from the east wind.

Because it is not exactly spring weather, Denmark’s Meteorological Institute (DMI) warns on Tuesday for the coming day and the following days.

In fact, there are sissies on the way:

– Right now we are keeping an eye on more clouds that bring rain and sleet with them. And they are coming up to us from Eastern Europe. They move up to Himmerland at the end of the day, and in the late evening hours they reach the rest of North Jutland, meteorologist on duty Steen Hermansen says first thing in the morning on Tuesday.

As Tuesday will be a cool day with temperatures only slightly above freezing, DMI expects the precipitation to fall as a mixture of rain and snow:

– It will mostly be slush. I expect it to be a few inches of sleet as it looks now. It is in the late evening hours and tomorrow morning, predicts Steen Hermansen.

So even though March is on the calendar, he has to give a little warning to those from North Jutland who are going out cycling or driving on Wednesday morning:

– Tomorrow morning it must be said to be a bit slushy. It can cause slippery roads in several places, so you should drive carefully. However, there will be no talk of a merger, so I do not expect chaos, as we have seen this winter. And people have also got used to driving according to the conditions, says Steen Hermansen.

By eight o’clock on Wednesday morning, the precipitation should have left North Jutland or turned completely into rain.

So even though March belongs to spring, we are in for more wintry weather. And not just for the next 24 hours, but also for the coming days. Here, the weather will be characterized by a cold easterly wind.

– Many forget it a bit, but in the past we have also seen cold periods in March. Looking at our weather data and average temperatures for February and March, there isn’t much of a degree difference either. For February it is called 1.5 degrees and for March 3.3 degrees. So March has brought cold spells like the one we’re heading into now. It is actually more unusual that we have been so warm in February, points out Steen Hermansen.
