O WhatsApp is testing a new feature that will allow users to transfer ownership of their Channels in the messenger. This addition, which has been a highly requested feature, aims to simplify the management of this functionality in the application.

According to the WABetaInfothe latest beta version was released (24.2.10.70) of WhatsApp for iOS for some testers, so it should reach everyone in future updates.

This version is no longer available on TestFlight due to an issue preventing users from sending messages. However, WhatsApp was working on a feature to transfer ownership of channels in the future.

With the new function, anyone who has a WhatsApp Channel will be able to transfer “ownership” to someone else through the app. The process will be quite intuitive: the original Channel creator will click “Transfer Ownership” (something like “Transfer Ownership”) and select the name of the new owner. It will also be possible to remove administrators from the Channel, giving more control to the owner.

It is worth noting, however, that the function will only be used to transfer ownership of Channels on WhatsApp — that is, this will not apply to groups or personal accounts.

In the case of groups, the administrator can place other members in the same position, but cannot transfer it to another person. If the group creator leaves, the first member who was added or an admin chosen before the creator leaves will become an admin.

With the new function, WhatsApp shows that it has been working to make the app more complete and give more options and control to users, especially those who manage Channels. As said, there is still no information about when the function will be available to all users.
